Abel Nightroad

Country/Village: Rain, Amegakure- Formerly of Kirigakure
Rank: Jounin
Age at Game Start: 24
Birthday: January 14th
Rank: Jounin
Age at Game Start: 24
Birthday: January 14th
Appearance
He is rather slender and has knee length silver hair he wears back in a braid that he carries backup weapons in, pale blue eyes often seen behind a pair of rimless glasses that are not needed beyond making him look older, and a back covered in whip scars. He is slender with a pretty face that could easily pass for female with the right clothing and a touch of make up. Tall at 6’, he can stand out in a crowd, though he also is more than able to fade into the background until an opportune time.
Abilities/Powers
Bloodline:
The abilities of his clan are to create weapons from his blood and to absorb the spilled blood of any nearby enemies, thus strengthening himself and his blood created weapons while invoking fear in their enemies. The blood can also be used to heal himself, causing his enemies more fear as they watch his wounds knit closed before their very eyes. The final mastery of his bloodline ability are blood wings, granting him the ability to fly, but he has not reached that mastery yet. He is flexible and a bit stronger than a normal person, however, when hyped up on absorbed blood, his strength grows as well. The downside to his bloodline abilities is that if he doesn’t replenish the blood he used, he can easily pass out from blood loss, leaving him vulnerable.
Taijutsu:
Abel is skilled in hand to hand but his preferred weapon is the scythe he creates out of his own blood. Senbon, explosive tags, and improvised weapons are among his repertoire.
Genjutsu:
While not skilled in genjutsu, Abel can quiet his presence and chakra enough to fade into the background, tricking shinobi into either ignoring him or believing he is harmless.
Ninjutsu:
He has an affinity for electrical attacks, often using his blood-created weapons as a focus for the electricity. He also has the usual basic chakra-based training that other shinobi tend to have, allowing him to run across impossible surfaces or up sheer cliffs or trees.
Personality
Abel will often appear as a slightly silly individual to make people underestimate him, but on a mission, he can be deadly serious. He enjoys cooking and growing flowers as hobbies during his non-mission times, and he joins in any games with children who happen to be around when invited. He does have a sweet tooth that he will indulge during down time.
Despite being able to create weapons from his blood, he always has at least three kunai on him at all times and a handful of senbon tucked into his braid. Whenever he is sent out and runs across a missing-nin causing trouble, he will donate 9/10th of the bounty to Amegakure voluntarily and keep the little bit left for himself to either purchase something personal, like a new flower to grow, or buy someone in need some food. He might sometimes play with his prey before killing them, and any personal notes to someone are often short and to the point as he believes the recipient has much better things to do with their time than read ramblings written by him. Very eager to please the God of Ame for taking him in, Abel puts others before himself, be it his new homeland or his teammates on a mission.
Highly observant, level headed, and patient, he has a mind for tactics and will always complete his mission, no matter what complications are thrown in his way or how badly injured he is. The scars of his childhood still linger as he sometimes still sees himself as a monster, and he will not seek out promotions of higher ranks in Amegakure for the simple reason that he does not believe he deserves it. He does have a horrible temper when it’s finally tripped, which takes quite a bit, and he can be completely ruthless in a battle when innocent lives are at stake.
History
Born to the silver haired Nightroad Clan in Kirigakure, Abel emerged into a harsh world where his clan’s bloodline gift was treated like all the other bloodline gifts: a necessary evil. By the time he could walk, Abel was being trained in the ways of the shinobi and his clan, and when he managed to get into the academy, he not only was already able to use his bloodline gift, but was also highly aware of the village’s attitude towards him. He had managed to gain control of his blood weapons and was starting to find his affinity for an element, while the teachers pushed him, and the other bloodline children, harder than the non-bloodlined. Abel simply took this as part of his due for being born with a bloodline and worked harder, while hoping to make a difference in the way bloodline carriers were treated. He worked hard after the academy, hoping with each mission that he would be treated just a little bit better than his non-bloodline compatriots, and with each mission, that hope died a bit more. His hard work paid off in another way, however, as by the age of 15, he was made jounin of Kirigakure. Soon after came the event that changed his life forever.
A few days after returning from a B-Rank mission involving a bit of bounty hunting, Abel was waylaid by some older jounin with the offer of a friendly spar. He agreed, hoping that perhaps this was the bridge between the two sides that his older sister, Lilith, was always talking about. Going to a training field, the fight started off slow, each testing the other's skills and abilities before they started breaking out some of their more advanced techniques. It was hard for Abel to tell what happened, but somehow, the friendly attitude of the fight shifted, and before Abel knew it, he was fighting a group that came at him with distance weapons such as barbed chains and water whip jutsus. By the time a passing Yuki nin stepped in to stop the fight by simply blocking Abel off with sheets of ice, Abel’s back was a bloody mess, and his hope for any possible feelings of good will between the bloodline and non-bloodline families was shattered. Lilith kept making excuses for the jounin who had been fighting with Abel, trying to soothe ruffled feathers in the clan, many of whom wanted to know the identities of the attackers to take their pound of flesh for what had been done to one of their own. A few days after Abel had healed, some of the clan apparently had had enough of Lilith’s words about ‘peace’ and ‘working together’, and they killed her in front of the clan house. Abel was sure those responsible would be dealt with, but all the officials ever said was that it had been an inner clan problem and they had no jurisdiction over it. To Abel, it sounded like another gleeful way that the non-bloodlined could stab at the bloodlined by refusing to punish those responsible for a cold-blooded murder. So, he planned and plotted, waited for his chance, and it wasn’t long before he was handed a C-Rank mission to gather information on another village.
He accepted the mission, got as far as he could from Kirigakure, and then, after dropping his hitai-ate in a deep river to be carried off, vanished into the wilderness. As far as he was concerned, Kirigakure could go up in flames, and he wouldn’t lift a finger for any of them, bloodline or non.
Deciding to get as far from Kirigakure as he possibly could until he could think of a good course of action, Abel headed for the Land of Ice by way of the Land of Fire. That course brought him to the Land of Rain, as he hoped to use the near steady rainfall to hide his tracks. He had barely crossed the borders before he was caught completely by surprise by some strange shinobi, and his business for being in those lands was demanded from him. Abel attempted to pass himself off as a traveler, but the shinobi didn’t care about who, only why, and tried to repel him. Fearing they were hunter-nin, Abel attacked, revealing his bloodline ability and loudly swearing that they wouldn’t take him back to Kirigakure alive. The two strangely pierced shinobi seemed to move and fight in perfect harmony, but he was able to hold his own against them at least until he managed to get a good look at one’s hitai-ate.
They weren’t Kiri Hunter-nin.
That managed to calm him down enough to apologize and explain that he was simply trying to get away from Kirigakure to live his life without the hatred that Kirigakure showed to bloodline people. He was expecting them to let him go and that would be the end of it. It was with great surprise that instead, he was escorted to Amegakure where he met another orange haired shinobi with odd metal piercings who questioned him more thoroughly about his past. Seeing no reason to lie, as Kirigakure no longer held his loyalty, Abel answered honestly even as he was looking for ways to escape if it turned out to be a trap. When he was finished, he was very surprised to be offered a place as one of Ame’s shinobi, and he gratefully accepted, becoming a loyal shinobi to Amegakure.
Since that day, ten years ago, Abel had watched Amegakure change from an isolated place to one tentatively opening its borders for trade with other lands. Abel himself has worked tirelessly to prove himself worth of the trust that the God of Ame has in him. His distrust for non-bloodline shinobi has faded to nearly nonexistent but he does occasionally slip back into the prejudices he was raised with, turning to a bloodline shinobi for help over a non-bloodline bearing one. Once he realizes what he’s done, he will apologize and try to not let it happen again. During his down times, he has taken to growing flowers and playing with the children, hoping to make their lives a bit brighter while protecting them and his new home to the furthest extent of his abilities.
