Shishito Nanako

Country/Village: Water, Kirigakure
Rank: Mizukage, Head of T&I
Age at Game Start: 27
Birthday: February 14th

Appearance

Nanako is a traditional beauty with a dash of femme fatale mixed in; long, glossy black hair, dark blue eyes, and an hourglass figure. She mostly wears dresses when in the village, or similarly fancy blouses, sweaters or skirts. She's about 5'4" barefoot, but she usually wears heels that give her two to three inches more height-wise.

Abilities/Powers

Taijutsu
Excellent naginata skills, and excellent taijutsu ability, generally used in conjunction with her naginata.

Ninjutsu
Moderate ninjutsu ability: mostly combat techniques she usually uses as supplements to her physical attacks, like Water-walking, Water Clones, Water Prison (used in tandem with her Jellyfish summons)

Suiton: Daibakuryū, Suiton: Mizu Kamikiri, Suiton: Mizuame Nabara, etc.

Summoning
Two summoning contracts: one with a clan of jellyfish, and a one-on-one contract with a kraken she confiscated from a criminal

Genjutsu
Excellent genjutsu and torture skills: usually intertwined
I.E. a lesser version of Suiton Genjutsu: Mugen Marō, Magen: Narakumi no Jutsu, Will-breaking Interrogation Genjutsu, and a genjutsu of her own invention which magnifies feelings of maternal comfort and safety in the people close to her

Personality

At first glance, Nanako is a kind, beautiful lady that oozes maternal comfort and has a gentle air about her. And none of that is a lie, per se, but it definitely isn't the full story.

At her core, Nanako has two great loves: truth, and children. The former borders on obsession, and the latter is much more widely-encompassing than one might think. For all that she gathers those younger than her to herself as children, for all that she treats them gently, and kindly, and sometimes lovingly, for all that she inspires comfort and feelings of security, it must never be forgotten that Shishito Nanako is, at her core, the best Torturer in the village. Lies are the blackest sin in her eyes, and liars merely 'bad
children' in sore need of punishment.

One of her favorite corrective tools is Yukiko-chan, a Kaguya-made scalpel. The rumors can't decide whether it was personally forged by a Kaguya clan member as a gift, or if it was carved from their remains. What is unquestionable is her skill with blades and soft tissue, and her complete and total lack of empathy for those stupid enough to be dishonest around her. She will commit any number of atrocities to uncover her beloved truth, and has a tendency to shape the broken minds of her victims into a more pleasing shape. People leave her interrogation room either in a body bag or with the soul deep conviction to be a 'good child' from then on.

In the more administrative aspects of her work, Nanako is prone to doting on her subordinates—her 'children'. The catacomb-like halls beneath the village that she calls her home host all sorts of things she managed to wring from the budget allotted to her, including an artificial greenhouse, a well-stocked library (started in part to cater to her taste for mystery novels) and even a large saltwater tank forming one wall of her office, for her jellyfish, among other things. She is respected and generally loved by those working under her, and respected and feared by many who don't. Both reactions are judiciously deserved.

History

Shishito Nanako was born into a moderately matriarchal clan of naginata users, granddaughter to the current clan head. She was a bright and sweet child, and took her early lessons on the importance of truth to heart before she was sent off to the Academy.

In retrospect, that was likely where the trouble started.

While at the Academy, Nanako encountered the first of her 'children': a younger boy being accelerated through the classes and on track for early graduation. She took to making him lunch and dogging after him once classes let out, gradually forcing her way into the vacant role of 'mother' for him. Naturally, Sephiroth thought she was insane, at the time, and he... well, he wasn't wrong. He just wasn't quite right about where that mental instability truly lay.

The first to find that out was an Academy teacher, who jokingly told Nanako that she could graduate early if she killed one of her instructors instead of a classmate. She called his bluff, and graduated the same day as Sephiroth himself. From there, they were both shipped out to war, and it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that a few people were disappointed by how well they both excelled on the battlefield. The two of them grew closer, Sephiroth eventually resigning himself to their familial dynamic, and once the war ended they were both reassigned. Nanako went into T&I, and quickly climbed the ranks. She was the Department Head before her twentieth birthday, and summarily lost most of her freedom, in the most civil way possible. She now spends most of her days deep below the village, in the bowels of T&I. She understands that it is necessary, given just how much sensitive information she's privy to, and has since adapted as much as possible.
