All Villages
Please note that your village will rank each type of mission differently than another village. Due to this, this section will not have a rank beside mission type as the missions by village list would.

Courier
Letter delivery: This is the most basic of missions, and involves going from one village to another with official correspondence of middle level security.

Token delivery: Usually this involves passing along some sort of package from your village's nobles to another inside the country (the lower ranked version) or in another country (higher ranked version).

Grocery Runs: Sometimes this is as simple as a regular person who hires for a D-rank to have a shinobi carry things for them. Other times it's as extreme as a B-rank for a rare fruit that a noble simply must have that grows in a hostile country.

Manual Labor
Street Clearing: Depending on your village, what you clear will change, but there are always missions where clearing leaves, sand, rocks, or even water out of the streets will need to be done.

Gardening: Depending on the country, this could be anything from weeding, to sitting there keeping a plant from shriveling up and dying because it was accidentally flash fried by being watered. Understandably, this is a higher ranked mission in some countries as adverse to others.

Artistic: This is everything from painting fences, to putting up billboards, to being on carving duty for someone's new house.

Building: Similar to Artistic, this usually involves a great deal more intensity, such as fixing walls in buildings, helping to get a dam back in place, or anything else that involves heavy manual labor to create something from nothing.

Escort
Babysitting: The most basic of escort missions. Child tending can be horrible, though depending on the child, the ranks for this can skyrocket. The Diamyo's child would cost understandably more to hire shinobi for than your civilian neighbor's.

Caravan Escort: Usually these involve weeks away from the village, as you are getting a slow moving group of people from point A to point B. Depending on where they're going and what they're taking with them, this could get pricy.

Noble Escort: One of these would never rank lower than a B. They also almost always involve traveling between countries. Not advised for characters who are bad with people or politics.

Guarding
Gate duty: Someone has to guard the gate to the village and check paperwork. This can be you.

Patrols: Much like gate duty, you're still on guard, though typically these are closer to the edges of the country.

Noble guard: You've been hired by the noble court of your country to stand guard over them from some threat. Always a higher ranked mission.

Animal Handling
Recovery: These missions involve retrieving lost animals to return them to their owners.

Hunting: You've been hired to go out and kill things either to feed someone who hired you, or to exterminate a threat beyond the abilities of the person who hired you.

Information
Espionage: This is usually a set of missions dedicated to those who are more careful in the field. On a day to day basis, this can be anything from getting information on a cheating spouse for a villager, to being hired by a high ranked official to find out what his political opponent is up to.

Investigations: Something happened and you're there to find out what. In Konoha these are handled by the police force. Konoha shinobi may still be hired out to other villages for this purpose however.

Political
Envoy: You are an official representative for your village to somewhere, be that as a voice for trade, or as a presence to show that your village is listening.

Treaties: The major nations are at peace, but the little ones aren't as peaceful. People still need to work on settling disputes between neighbors. This can be as minor as a pair of feuding clans.

Killing
Assassination: You were hired to kill someone. The level of import this is cannot go into is noble ranks of any major countries without informing a mod!

Competitive Combat: Sometimes a mission will require killing off a group of shinobi from another village to meet the objectives or deliver something. If it is known this is a possibility, then it is very likely that a shinobi will be told before hand. Please inform a mod if you would like to turn this into a matter of plot!

Revolts: You're being sent in to stomp out some kind of revolt, and this can be either a criminal takeover, or the local villagers getting uppity. Either way, someone is expected to die to get the peace back, though these often don't require as much death as strict policing.
