Appearance

Adela is 5'1" and has a thin and light build. She has what would have been pale skin (tanned from her time spent in Konoha), long red hair (often tied back at the top of her head in a long ponytail), and green and brown eyes (heterochromia). She will often wear a combination of deep greens and browns both as a match to her eyes and as camouflage in her village's territory, as well as her new flak vest to signify her promotion to Chuunin and her head band tied across her head (black fabric). In order to protect her hands she will often wear fingerless gloves, limiting callus growth to the pads of her fingers from harsh training and leaving her palms relatively unchanged.

Abilities/Powers

Weapons' Skills:
Adela is decent with throwing weapons and traps, but she is and always will be a specialist in kenjutsu (swordplay). Having picked up on it from a young age, she often uses true blades in her training against her uncle and anyone else who may be up for it (resulting in a lot of blade scarring all over her body, save for her face and neck). In absence of a blade however, she will favor quarter-staffs and kunai for combat purposes.

Body:
Adela has a light and thin build, and her taijutsu training is a match to her build; she is fast and uses her speed in order to deal powerful blows as opposed to sheer muscle, ultimately favouring control over her own body and the need to make the opponent lose ground or balance in order to tip a physical fight in her favour. However, because she is light and thin, she will struggle to break free from grapples or to deal devastating blows with her punches and kicks alone.

Ninjutsu:
Having natural inclinations to Earth, Fire, and Water chakra from birth, Adela has an easier time in the nature manipulation of these types of jutsu than any other. She will often use these in conjunction with weaponry, to trap opponents, or to herd opponents to more favourable locations in order for her to strike through other means, be it with her kenjutsu or with her kekkei dota.

Genjutsu:
Although her chakra control is excellent from her training with it, Adela does not have a natural inclination towards genjutsu whatsoever. As such, she is particularly vulnerable to illusions of almost any kind and can only break basic ones without assistance.

Kekkei Dota:
Adela is one of few ninja with the 'Art of Metal Manipulation' (Kouton) Kekkei Dota. As a combination of Earth, Fire, and Water chakra, Adela can use several techniques to alter any metal she likes that she happens to have on hand. Only very powerful users of Kouton have the ability to create new metal out of materials around them, and although Adela is getting stronger with the Kouton style she has not yet reached this level of strength, and it is questionable if she will ever reach it at all. Her uncle, having learned the theories behind their bloodline upon reaching adulthood, has been training Adela to further utilize it effectively in the way only the Milani Clan knows how.

Smithing:
She is still technically considered an apprentice smith, but Adela helps to run the forge her uncle opened within Konoha when both moved into the city. With the aid of her uncle she forged the sword she often uses in combat, and she can effectively sharpen almost any kind of weapons and forge projectile weaponry with ease on her own (such as wire, kunai, and shuriken).

Personality

Adela is a tenacious, opinionated teenager who thinks she can take on the world. What separates her from others her age are her tendencies to raise her voice to a volume that would require everyone within ten feet to wear ear plugs when she’s angry, her habit of working herself to exhaustion at everything she does and her general hostility towards nearly everyone around her (as the only exceptions to this seem to be young children). It also shows that she is determined, hardworking and not going to take any crap from anyone, but the way she goes about doing it makes it all seem very negative.

Despite her habit to lash out at anyone who gets on her bad side, Adela isn’t as violent as she makes herself seem. The only occasions where she’ll follow through with a terrible threat are when someone really makes her angry or otherwise does something that is just plain wrong by her. She has a very strong moral code that she follows and does not break for any reason whatsoever, even if it means harming or implicating herself in some way or ending the lives of those who would threaten people important to her. In fact, this moral code is her main driving force as a ninja; her goal is to become truly noble, like her parents were.

She keeps up a grouchy and defensive exterior but in all truth she’s shy and too thick-headed to admit to it. However, she might approach someone who is obviously struggling with something she knows how to do and ‘help’ in her own way. Not exactly the best motivational speaker, but it is proof that she’s not completely heartless and against everyone around her. In fact she is easily embarrassed when it comes to things like compliments or the things normal teenagers talk about. You know, dating, kissing, romance, that sort of thing. But, she tends to punch when she gets embarrassed, so to any who might start a conversation with her? Be cautious if you enjoy having your teeth not stained by your own blood. Okay, she's not quite that bad but you get the idea.

Adela absolutely hates not being in control of a situation as it makes her feel helpless. She'll react more violently than usual when she starts feeling trapped in a situation like that, but if pushed she will become vulnerable, freeze up and be unable to act properly, even to the point of breaking down. However, at this point there is only one person she will allow herself to be completely vulnerable around, and that is her uncle.

Lastly, she has a very delicate sense of pride. Although she may come off as arrogant, the truth is that her confidence can be easily shattered. She can handle losing at something (this humility was drilled into her at a younger age), but what she can’t handle is not being taken seriously because she isn’t skilled enough in whatever way. And, because matters of her pride are something she feels are her problem and her problem alone, she also doesn’t like asking for help and will very likely reject offers for assistance. She’ll often let blows to her ego get to her very easily, causing her to sulk and lash out even more than normal. But, give her enough time and she’ll be able to get back up from the emotional blow she’s suffered and be back to normal. Hopefully.

History

Adela was originally born into the Milani Clan of Kirigakure. Once she was deemed old enough to begin training by clan members, however, her uncle noticed something; Adela exhibited a perfect and strong balance of Earth, Fire, and Water chakras, which was a telltale sign of inheritance of the clan's rare Kekkei Dota. Rather than reveal this to the others in her clan, however, he chose to keep it secret, knowing that his niece would be forced into Kirigakure's militia under no choice of her own should it be discovered. In his eyes - as well as those of her civilian mother and father - it was no life for a child to undertake so soon.

For a few years mother, daughter, father, and uncle continued to manage to keep this secret out of the fear that she would become a hardened killer as a child. However, it was only a matter of time before another member learned of Adela's power and warned the clan head of it. This shortly followed with the missive ordering Adela's parents to hand her over to the elders for training in their family's secret techniques by the next morning, normally a knowledge reserved for those gifted with the bloodline or those who have otherwise achieved adulthood in the eyes of the clan. However, it was not the life either of Adela's parents wanted forced upon their daughter.

Ultimately, they made the greatest sacrifice they could have; knowing that they themselves would be at great risk if they tried it, they came up with a plan that involved the uncle smuggling the daughter away from Kirigakure, and there was only one way to avoid pursuit; sacrifice.

On the eve of her eighth birthday, Adela was taken by her uncle and escaped with him from the village with the help of her parents. When she left, she did not know that her parents had effectively staged her murder, which would follow in their clan trying them, finding them guilty of treason against their clan, and executing them as judgement for their actions. For the time being, she could live a life of peace and freedom.

Entry into Konoha was not easy, but under the understanding of the Yondaime Hokage and investigation into the motives of both refugees, eventually the two were taken into the village on conditional probation. It was at that time - by her own choice and through the assurance that the life of Konoha Genin was not even close to as harsh as that of Kiri Genin to her uncle - that Adela entered Konoha's Ninja Academy as a student. At that time, her uncle opened up what would become one of the best weapons' forges in the entire village for business as well.

The work was tough, and getting along with the other students was tougher. Through her years at academy, Adela would gain the title 'Chili Pepper' for her hot temper and habitual tendency to instigate violence against negative commentary regarding her person (though eventually it would simmer down), but even so she showed incredible determination and prowess towards improving and traveling down her chosen path. She would test and graduate from the Academy at age eleven, along with her teammates.

It was a year and a half year before her squad was cleared to participate in the Chunin exams, and it would take Adela three attempts at the exams in order to attain the rank of Chunin. The first attempt resulted in her and one of her other teammates having injuries too severe for them to participate in the third round (while their third teammate went on and promoted that round). The second time, Adela was deemed not ready for promotion as she did not show the right temperament or strategic mind that was required as a Chunin. It was also in this attempt that intelligence on her was reported to Kirigakure, specifically the Milani Clan. As she was under the protection of Konoha at the time, any negotiations to try and return her to Kirigakure ultimately failed. It was also at this time when her uncle informed her of the full truth behind her escape from Kirigakure, cementing Adela's goals as a ninja and firming her resolve to become truly noble as she found her parents to be.

However, the third attempt at the examinations – just in the past winter – was when Adela finally succeeded in promotion, an event that she deemed just one step towards her ultimate goal to become a noble and strong ninja. It meant tougher missions and even further training in all areas, and it was exactly what she wanted for herself. To this day she continues that trend, always keeping her goals in mind with every blow she makes and every muscle that may scream for rest by the end of it all.
